Cofferdams
Blue Iron has successfully installed sheet pile cofferdams to provide water cut off and allow construction of new structures such as boat ramps, bridge piers, intake structures, and drainage pipe within in bodies of water. Once installed, the inside of the cofferdam is excavated to the bottom of structure and any remaining water is pumped out. The interlocks of the sheet pile can be sealed with interlock sealant such as Adeka or Wad-it to limit any water intrusion and provide dry working conditions for building of the new structure within the cofferdam.
Additional Cofferdam Options
In addition to the cantilever sheet pile we can provide braced options within the cofferdam which allow deeper excavations and larger retained water height. Blue Iron is able to provide design build cofferdams and provide the equipment that will allow the most cost efficient methods.
The major benefits of sheet pile cofferdams include but are not limited to:
- Provides cut off water cut off below mud line to reduce water inflows below base of excavation
- Sheet Pile can be designed to accommodate project layout, lengths and sizes to accommodate construction.
- Interlock sealant provides an effective water seal to prohibit the intrusion of water from outside of the cofferdam.
- Can be designed for temporary or permanent use.
